First time I got my Pre-academic plan program from AMINEF, I expected less from it since I was given an offer to take it in St. Johns University, which I never heard about it. What was the university's name again? yeah it's St. Johns University (SJU). Even later on I found out it is located in Manhattan, New York, I still never raise my expectation that it would be great in New York. I was afraid that life would be harder in New York. Meeting new people with different language since my English is not really good I am afraid that I can't communicate with them. Also the eating menu would be very different. I used to eat rice in my country and I don't think I will have it in school cafeteria.
As soon as I arrived in SJU, I change my perception. Everyone here is so friendly, the staff in St. Johns are eager to help you. The food here is good and what's better is it's free (I think it is because we are Fulbrighters). As for my communication skill, I think they understand my difficulties as they would slow down if they talk to me which will give me time to understand what they are saying (and you should do the same too if you talk to me). Live is pretty easy here, all information that you want is available and pretty easy to access, I mean all Google technology works better here than in my home country, what you want to have, where you can have it, and how you go there is just a few click in computer like a walk in a park. What more is SJU Manhattan located near everything. Everything (leisure, entertainment, food, etc) you want is just block away from SJU. It is really exciting to study in SJU, I can't wait to go around the city in excursion program.
